My wife has vaginal discharge and itching/burning sensation.

This answer was rated:

My wife has white vaginal discharge and itching/burning sensation. She got an abortion about 2 months ago and two weeks ago she underwent surgery for a burst appendix. She is was taking antibiotics recently. Also I recently applied body wash inside her vagina and read that may not be good. What may be wrong and since it is Sunday tomorrow how do we seek medical help or is this something that can wait til Monday?

Is there any smell?

When did it start? When antibiotic was finished?

Thank you

No smell and it started a week after antibiotic was finished
Thank you for the information,.

Itching with white discharge indicates yeast infection.

This can follow antibiotic therapy.

She needs to get it confirmed by doctor, though test has come negative.

Other possibilities can be trichomoniasis, bacterial infection but the symptoms are like yeast infection.

You should also avoid douching.

Sometimes otc medicine may be effective.

She can try monistat cream for it.

Prescription grade medicine or oral tablet like fluconazole can be required too.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Best wishes.

She took the test from walmart that indicates it was not yeast infection based on ph level. Is that not accurate. And can she likely wait til Monday to see a doc. And if not what do you recommend for seeing a doc on sunday
Does she have any other symptom besides white vaginal discharge and itching/burning sensation?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
I think that's it. Maybe redness. Can't remember and now she is asleep.
Test based on pH is often accurate but there can be a few percentage of false positives/ negatives.

White discharge, itching are suggestive of yeast infection.

Burning sensation can be from trichomoniasis, bacterial infection.

Bacterial one usually causes fishy odor which she does not have.

A mixed infection is also possible.

She can try monistat to see whether it helps.

If it gets worse, she can take an examination in Urgent care without waiting for Monday consultation.
