My daughter has been on tablet form of depakote er for 1 1/2

Resolved Question:

My daughter has been on tablet form of depakote er for 1 1/2 year. Under her doctor's care we are decreasing her dosage from 2 tabs to 1. She has had grand mal & petit mal seizures in the past. But hasn't had one in that 1 1/2 year. My question is how long will it take for the dosage to change in her system? I'm wondering when I can relax some & not jump at every little noise.

Your daughter's blood levels should stabilize within 10-14 days. If she has had no problems within these 14 days, you can relax and continue with the lower dose.

I hope this helps.
