Dear JACUSTOMER 03sf284j: The heart as a whole is more than the sum of the individual parts it comprises because no one of the individual parts can supply the entire body with blood pumped by the heart itself, which is required for life. The heart may continue to function without one or its parts, but the parts in themselves can not function adequately without being a part of the organ, the heart.
