Friend just diagnosed with gastroenteritis, home now for 3

Resolved Question:

friend just diagnosed with gastroenteritis, home now for 3 hours and back to vomiting and nausia and pain. she was prescribed zofran, nexium, vicodin , lomotil. question... how to keep medicine in her so she can get some relief? everything was easier in er because drugs were pushed through the iv. i hesitate to crush or dilute vicodin, do not know if it would be harmful to do so. thanks for any advice, er does not give out nursing advice over phone, may take trip back to hosp.

There is no need to crush the medicine as long as patient can swallow it.No need to crush or dilute vicodin .

how is she to keep it down if vomiting so frequently?

Zofran is for vomiting so better try to give that medicine first no matter as a whole or crushed .Crush will be more bitter hence more nauseous.If vomiting do not stop then we have to go for injectible medicines (have to take ER again).
