Resolved Question:

My chest hurts when I drink cold water. Under my sternum, warm water doesn't bother me, or food or anything else.

Dr B :

This may be an esophageal spasm triggered by the cold water you drink

JACUSTOMER : Will it go away and what can I do in the meantime. I have no other symptoms. And I feel fine otherwise.
Dr B :

When did it start?

JACUSTOMER : Last week. It's a little better.
Dr B :

This is likely to subside with time, it may take a few weeks (2-3)

JACUSTOMER : What caused this?
Dr B :

In the mean time you should avoid the cold beverages

Do you smoke or drink?

Dr B :

Good, it is possible something you ate created a small tear or irritation.

JACUSTOMER : Wouldn't I have other symptoms?
Dr B :

No, you would not

JACUSTOMER : Is this serious and should I go see my doctor?
Dr B :

Many times the only symptom is pain from your esophagus.

If it persists beyond 2 weeks from today, then you should see your doctor, he will be able to prescribe medication that will stop the pain.

JACUSTOMER : Ok thank you
Dr B :

You're welcome
