i have a ringing in my head. went to the ear doctor and hearing

i have a ringing in my head. went to the ear doctor and hearing is fine. he did not mention any tintinitus or anything. what could it be and what kind of doctor do i see next. it is a constant low pitch ring.

MRI brain done or not?

not really. have had vertigo for many many years - under control - nothing right now.

Ringing in one ear can be because of few problems like menieres disease, acoustic neuroma, inner ear infections etc.

 

If Hearing is normal then menieres is not a possibility but acoustic neuroma which is brain lesion(very slow growing and not dangerous) can only be picked by MRI. So any patient having ringing specially in one ear should undergo an MRI.

 

Sometime no cause is found , you should ask your doctor to give you betahistine(SERC) tablet to see if this helps . Moreover you can try hearing aid, sometime in ringing with no cause it helps. Even with no hearing loss it helps. Just a suggestion.
