Resolved Question:

My 10-yr old daughter has wet cough throughout the day, and sometimes at night, but no mucus comes out.
She does not seem to have a cold. What could it be?

How long has she been having it?
Breathing problem?
Any family history of allergy or asthma?
Any test done so far?

Allergy, yes. Sometimes I have to give her Claritin.

She's having this cough for about 10 days now, and it does not goe away nor does she get any worse. But it bothers me. We are not going outside taht much, and actually she has is equally outdoors and indoors.

No tests done so far.

There are two possibilities. It could be due to viral infection. It is self limiting and will subside in a few days.
The second possibility is it could be cough due to asthma as there is a family history of allergy. Examination of the chest may reveal wheeze. Medications like albuterol would be helpful.

Forgot to ask - so you are implying that allergies lead to asthma? Did I read you correctly? Thanks.
