Resolved Question:

My bowel movements have been very small in diameter -- about the size of my little finger to the size of my middler finger -- for about 2 wks or so. Also, very soft but not diarrheal. What can be the cause of this?? JD

This can be due to;

1) Rectal or colon polyp

2) Rectal growth

3) Anal sphincter spasm

4) Big internal hemorrhoids

All of these can change the caliber of the stool. An immediate examination is essential by doctor to rule out growth and polyp in rectum/colon. Your doctor may refer you to a gastroenterologist for a proctoscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy examination.
