Question not answered. Don't know what enzmes were elevated. He had pneuomia in one lung.was given two EKG's thought he might have a blockage, run dye through heart, showed some blockage, then had catherzation, there was not any blockage at all. He was in two hospitals to get this done. Why if the enyzmes were high, would they think it was a heart problem, Afer all of this, his heart is fine. But he was told he could have a heart attack and die if he did not have the catherzation.

911Doctor :

I still don't know which enzymes were high. there are about six different ones used to measure the heart and to check for a heart attack. if the patient went to the ER or the hospital and had chest pain then, depending on whether he has risk factors for heart disease (smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol), even with a normal EKG patients will often have to go to the cath lab to make sure the pain the chest is not a heart attack. chances are, from the way you are telling this story, that there was a particular enzyme that was not normal and the story of his illness was worrisome enough to make sure the heart was not involved. in other words, thank God it was only pneumonia.
