DR HASAN :

HI

DR HASAN :

Since how long you have this?

Customer:

Hi, since Sunday

DR HASAN :

Do you have symptoms like nasal obstruction, fluid trickling in throat, throat irritation, constant desire to clear the throat, cough etc?

Customer:

no

DR HASAN :

you are feeling chest tightness?

Customer:

no, it feels like a carrot is stuck; when i eat or drink something i burp a little and then it goes back to the same feeling.

Customer:

the pressure is worse when I lay down

Customer:

i had pneumonia last summer; at first i thought it was phlegm that had finally dislodged but nothing is moving.

DR HASAN :

Any burning sensation in stomach or chest(mid line)/

Customer:

no

DR HASAN :

Do you feel respiratory distress, specially when lying down or while walking?

Customer:

no, no shortness of breath, no burning above or below the lump

DR HASAN :

Which antacids you took ? Did it help?

Customer:

last night i drank water with baking soda, it made some good burps but nothing after that. this morning i took 2 tums.

DR HASAN :

How exactly you start getting this feeling ? I want to rule out some foreign body too?

Customer:

i noticed it mid-day Sunday. I had coughed some in the morning, trying to clear my throat so that I could talk. It seemed to "stick" after that. I kept waiting for "it" to dislodge.

DR HASAN :

So you were not eating anything at that time?

Customer:

No

DR HASAN :

Any diagnosed medical condition you have ?

Customer:

no

Customer:

i had surgery to repair a hernia last Wed., was on vicodin until Saturday. I've maintained a normal diet since surgery.

Customer:

hernia was inguinal (sp)

DR HASAN :

Ok thanks for your input.

DR HASAN :

How severely it is affecting you?

Customer:

It is uncomfortable, but I can breathe.

Customer:

I am still home from work from surgery.

Customer:

is it possible to be old phlegm finally moving out of my lungs?

DR HASAN :

No not this way.

DR HASAN :

Such symptoms can be due to few reasons like Mucus stucked at that area(although rare), Some suddenly stucked foreign body, Some inflammation of a specific area of food pipe due to coughing etc.

DR HASAN :

Heart problems or lungs problems are definitely not at first in list

Customer:

that's good to know; what kind of "foreign body"?

DR HASAN :

Heart burn can cause this feeling too.

DR HASAN :

Like some food particle.

Customer:

i've been trying to think of anything I've eaten that would cause heartburn and I come up empty

DR HASAN :

Ok fine

Customer:

when i eat baby carrots they sometimes feel like they stick and I often get the hiccups

DR HASAN :

i said heart diseases less likely because of absence of other symptoms i asked far, same as for lung diseases

DR HASAN :

Donot worry

Customer:

does it sound like something that will pass or dislodge in time?

DR HASAN :

you can take antacid . Also take Tylenol thrice daily. Wait till tomorrow and if it persist see your doctor once.

DR HASAN :

If it worsen then go immediately

Customer:

ok - i keep Ibuprophin in the house - is that ok?

DR HASAN :

If you can approach your doctor , better give early visit

DR HASAN :

because sometime small symptoms lead to big problems

DR HASAN :

just giving you some info but donot get scared.

DR HASAN :

Ibuprofen , yes you can take if you donot have heart burn.

Customer:

ok

DR HASAN :

Customer:
