is there a over the counter product containing silvadene for burns?

I am sorry, but silvadene is prescription only

What kind of burns do you have and from what, and how big is the area
JACUSTOMER-48pehsyo- :

Thermal burn from hot aluminum approx. 4 inches long on top of hand and forearm

Dr. Wilson :

You can make a homemade type of silvadene too

JACUSTOMER-48pehsyo- :

Can you give me the "receipe"

Dr. Wilson :

you can mix hydrocortisone cream, bacitracin, Benadryl cream and Eucerin cream. This is about as close as you can get to Silvadene

JACUSTOMER-48pehsyo- :

Will this also help for scarring/permanant discoloration?

Dr. Wilson :

Yes, the hydrocortisione (the steroid portion) helps a bit - but nothing is perfect - but as a surgeon - I inject steroids in to wounds when I close them - and I think it seems to help

JACUSTOMER-48pehsyo- :

How often should i apply and should i cover burn w/ burn gause?

Dr. Wilson :

Actually once or twice per day, I would only keep the area covered when you sleep - otherwise keep it open - this will allow faster healing

JACUSTOMER-48pehsyo- :

Should i mix equal portions

Dr. Wilson :

Yes, if you can get a container with an airtight lid - such as one of those Glad containers, put all the ingredients from each tube, and then mix together - and you will have a 'tub' of medication you can apply like Silvadene.

JACUSTOMER-48pehsyo- :

Thank you

Dr. Wilson :

Your welcome
