I've been trying to lose weight for quite some time. Generally when you lose weight, where does it come off of first? Is there anything specific that can be done so that it comes off more in certain areas?
Despite claims made by various "supplements", "diet pills", exercise equipment and exercise programs/videos there is NO scientific evidence supporting the ability of any of these approaches to "target" weight (fat) loss to a particular place on the body.

In patients with insulin resistance, the weight gain tends to be more central (the so called "apple shape"). Reducing concentrated sweets and treatment of the metabolic condition with medications such as metformin, can help reduce this accumulation of central fat - which has been shown to be more dangerous than the "pear shape".
