Customer Question

I have clear fluid oozing from a round small sore on my leg. I have had serious, lifethreatening setic infection on my other leg. Both legs have been discolored for about 5 years because of the septic infection. I have many blisters on both legs, where they are discolored. I am an insulein dependant diabetic. My GP says blisters/sores are only topic and not internal problems? Do you agree?

Thanks for your question.

Blisters on the legs can be due to skin problems and can be a part of systemic problem. Since you have diabetes and got previous serious infections, there is a complication of diabetes known as diabetic dermopathy, i suggest that you should visit a dermatologist rather than GP to get yourself examined and investigated. Only then a definite diagnosis can be made. Diabetics are already at risk of serious infections and diabetic related healing problems so i donot agree to your GP and advise a consultation by dermatologist and if diabetes is uncontrolled then by an endocrinologist also.

I hope this helps you.
