Resolved Question:

My boyfriend has a piece of chicken lodged in his esophagus while dining out earlier this evening. He is able to talk and breathe but feels discomfort. Is this something to be concerned about?

He tried throwing it up but to no avail. Please let me know if I should be taking him to the ER.

Thank you.

Sorry for the problem.
Usually swallowed objects pass through the gut without any problem. In 80-90% of cases it passes through. In case of adult objects of size 2 in or larger can cause problem. In some cases it can get stuck in food tube or esophagus. When he is feeling it stuck in esophagus, he should get a consultation at ER. Sometimes this can cause complication.

Hope this information will help you.
Wish his healthy life.
