Burning sensation in my legs. lasts 15 m,inutes or so. then

Resolved Question:

burning sensation in my legs. lasts 15 m,inutes or so. then back to cold occassionally. Left knee was replaced 16 months ago. still sore ,and hurts when standing and walking. inthe past 4 months or so my legs burn and with severe pain. I also have pain at different parts of my body. fingers feel like the are pricked with a needle, etc. I have had many blood tests, muscles, nerve ending test, carderograms, heart montering (24hour), stress test, echo cardio funtions. All tests were good for an active lady of 84 years old. My last blood test were good, cholestrol test were high, because their opinions were I have side effects from taking statins. I have been off of the statins for PPROX. 5 MONTHS. How long does this stay active in the system. or could this the wrong diagnosis. Thaks, hilda.

Hi Hilda

The cause may be neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy is caused by nerve damage which may result from diabetes, injury, infection, metabolic problems and toxins. Statins can cause rhabdomyolysis, due to the depletion of Co-Q10 (a nutrient that supports muscle function). The test for rhabdomyolysis is called creatine kinase (CK). But even with this test, many people experience pain and fatigue even though they have normal CK levels. You can eat foods rich in antioxidants including tomatoes, cranberries, broccoli and garlic every day because antioxidants can help your body flush out the traces of statins in your body. I hope this information helps you:-)
