Will you please answer some questions so that i can help you better-
1.When did it occurred?
2.Is he able to bear weight on the limb?

So most probably it looks that he is not having any bony injury.
He should be at present on the RICE therapy ,that is -

-Give rest to the limb & now do not bear on the limb.

-Do ice fomentation over the site of injury for 3-5 minutes at least 3 times a day.

-Apply a soft crepe bandage over the limb from down to upwards.

-Keep limb elevated on a pillow.

-Take a mild analgesic like tylenol which will relieve pain.
