I have been told I have IBS. I am 48 YRS old female. It is flaring again, I have EXTREME bloating - My jeans fit fine in the morning and by 7pm I could not zip them at all! I feel like nothing is working in my stomach. I am uncomfortable! I had ruptured appendicitis when i was 5. I have an appt next week with a gastroentologist, but what can I do meanwhile?

1.Since when it is there?
2.What are your other symptoms like diarrhea or constipation?
3.Is there any other symptoms like diabetes or high blood pressure?

Started bloating yesterday throughout the day just got worse as day went on - I have no constipation or diarrhea. No high blood pressue or diabetes.

By looking at the details it looks that your major symptom is bloating.The association of bloating with the IBS is there.You should do following to have relief-

1.Avoid the coffee,tea.beverages,alcohol,liquids containing sorbitol & artificial sweeteners.

2.Substitute dairy products with soya or rice.

3.Eat foods with high soluble fiber content & careful in eating insoluble fiber content.

4.Your doctor may give you probiotics & antispasmodic drugs like mebeverine.

5.Eat your foods in small quantities.
