Can food get caught between the Palatoglossal arch and the tonsil?

Hi and thank you for your question. Any time you have irritation it can be followed by an infection, such as what happened with the chocolate. Yes, small bits of food can get caught up in the throat and areas of the mouth, but it would dislodge rather quickly with swallowing and/or throat clearing. Have you checked for tonsil stones? these are pieces of debris that form and do get entrapped in the folds of the tonsil and can certainly cause redness, irritation ,discomfort and frequent infections. Also maybe you have a sensitivity to a particular food or spice that is making your throat irritated?
