This answer was rated:

Should a person take an antibiotic and an antiviral at the same time? My 34 year old daughter is taking Amoxillon and an antiviral together and she has vomited about 5 times. She was also prescribed a muscle relaxer and pain reliever, but is discontinuing taking them.

Did they feel that she may have influenza?
Does she have diarrhea as well?
Did she take all the medications at once?

The doctor said that he didn't think she had the flu, he took a swab. She took the muscle relaxer, then ate something, then took the other three meds.
Do you know which antiviral she is on? Is it tamiflu?
Also, is she on amoxicillin or amoxicillin/clav (augmentin)?

Yes, tamiflu and amoxicillin/clav.
Thank you,

I would separate out the two. There is no interaction between the two but I would try to separate each by 2-3 hours if possible.

They both cause nausea and vomiting. It is hard to say which one is the cause. Make sure she takes them with food.

If she continues to vomit, she may want to discuss switching the augmentin to something else.

I hope that she feels better.
