I have just been told I have broken my rib (8th and 9th)

I have just been told I have broken my rib (8th and 9th)
Where is the location exactly

The 8th and 9th ribs are in the lower part of your chest.
If you feel your rib cage from the front (over the abdomen), the lowest rib that you can feel is the 10th rib. The 11th and 12 ribs are floating ribs.

The 8th and 9th ribs are directly above the 10th.

Here is a picture with the ribs numbered for you. You will have to copy and paste it into your browser.

Would thermacare wrap help relieve the pain or ice

Expert:  Dr. Abby replied 8 years ago.
At this point, I would try the thermacare first.
For some people, heat helps, for others ice.

The pain of rib fractures is quite intense, as you are experiencing. It can take 4-6 weeks for the fractures to heal, so you will need to be gentle with yourself and use the pain medication that you were given.

I hope that you feel better soon.
