I am a female , age 58.   Today I have had chills, low body temperature   (last temp 97.1 at 9 P.M. EST). Moderate to severe headache,   little to eat (PBJ sandwich) this morning around 11 A.M.   I have Parkinson's Disease but don't think that is related.   I have had nausea and some on-off dry heaves/vomiting   although not much in vomit because my stomach is basically empty. Live alone, alittle anxious right now. What might this be and how should I proceed. I really do not want to drive to the ER , could you give some ideas? Advice?
well this could be beginning of an infection or upset stomach esp with dry heaves likely gastritis. you need to keep yourself well hydrated, use prilosec OTC for upset stomach . if the vomiting increase or the headache get worse you would need to go to ER to get IV fluids, anti-emetics and examination. new onset headaches are worrisome if they dont get better with medicines like advil/aleeve . important to rule out increased pressure in brain from tumor, bleed or edema leading to headaches and vomiting.
