Resolved Question:

For about a month now, I have been finding my potassium pills in the toliet bowl. Apparently I am not absorbing them. What is the problem?

Hi,

What is your age? Since when are you taking the pills? When did you get a blood test for potassium done last?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
I am 58. I have been taking potassium for about 25 years. I had general blood work done last year.

Hi,

What is your blood potassium level?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
I honestly do not know.

Hi,

You have been taking potassium pills without a regular monitoring of your blood levels for potassium - this could have caused serious side effects.

I would suggest you get a blood test done for sodium, potassium and a kidney function test.

After the results come in - you can decide whether you need to take the pills at all.
