Ive had a 3 back operations (the last one in 1993) - fusion

Resolved Question:

I've had a 3 back operations (the last one in 1993) - fusion in the lowerback. Lately I cannot sleep at night, I cannot sit for long periods and I've got this awful pain in my right leg? What does that mean?

Well, presumably, you haven't had your back evaluated for a long time now -- so new pains and pain in the leg could represent a "pinched" nerve in the lower back.

This can come from areas around the back operations you had previously, at levels above or below the surgeries. For example, a bulging or herniated disc below previous surgeries can cause this type of pain that shoots down the leg, called "radiculopathy".

A MRI of the lumbar spine would be needed to evaluate these pains.

I would talk with your doctor about these symptoms, and have it evaluated.
