What is Neuroforaminal Encroachment Cervical 6-7 left si

What is Neuroforaminal Encroachment ? Cervical 6-7 left side

I have had 2 Cervical Fusion's C5,6,7

My second Fusion was C6,7 last yr. I continue to have severe pain in my front left side of my neck. As well as,stiffness & severe pain through out the neck, shoulder area.

Thank you for assistance in this matter.

Foraminal encroachment usually means there is a bone spur in the area where the nerve exits the bones of the spinal column.

An encroachment at the C6-7 level could cause pain in the arm that radiates down into the middle finger.

If this is the case, and the pain is bothersome, a surgical procedure to open up the foramen and decompress the nerve can be performed, called a posterior "foraminotomy", performed by a neurosurgeon.
