Resolved Question:

I have a red lump on my inner thigh about the size of a small coin that sticks out and hurts to touch. I have also started to get a dry throat. I tried to pop it to see if it might be an ingrown hair, but it does not seem to want to pop.

Since when is the lump? Is it painful and tender? Are you diabetic?

It is slightly pain full when I rub it. It is in an area that would be prone for an in grown hair, but it is hard inside and is a little large. I am not diabetic, but it does run in my family.

It looks like to be either of the following;

1) Boil or carbuncle

2) Folliculitis; infection of the hair follicle

Usually they need treatment in the form of local antibiotic creams and oral antibiotics or some incision drainage procedure.

With a family history of diabetes you should get a glucose tolerance test and glycosylated hemoglobin (shows last three month average blood sugar) to rule out diabetes, once again.
