what does it mean when you have blood in your stool? There is even small clots.
Hi There

Blood in the stool should always be taken seriously. The presence of clots may indicate that this is not just a tiny bleed but possibly a significant one. The blood may be coming from anywhere along the length of your GI tract. There is a higher likelihood that this may be coming from the lower part of this tract. You need to go to your ER immediately for the necessary investigations which will include a full blood count and clotting screen to assess that you do not have clotting disorders. You will also be examined for haemorrhoids and maybe a endoscopy will be performed to identify the source of the bleed and this is important.
