Every lab has a different normal range for this particular type of test, so if you recently had this test done, you need to find out from you doctor what the lab's acceptable range is. Some labs use a normal value as 4,500-10,000. In this case, your result would be high. A higher than normal white blood cell count can result from bacterial infections, inflammation, leukemia, trauma, or stress. This can even be altered due to a cold.
