When I bend my thumb, it won't bend back by itself. Have to help it by lefting it back. Someone said it is called a trigger finger. What can you tell me about this?

This is called Trigger Thumb.

This occurs when there is swelling in the flexor tendon of the thumb so that once the thumb is bent or flexed, it gets fixed in that position and cannot be unbent easily, it becomes straight only with a snap.

Teratment is by medicnes, steroid injections at the site and splints. Occassionally surgery may be required.
