Can anything be done for a cracked sternum? If it's still

Resolved Question:

Can anything be done for a cracked sternum? If it's still bothering me two weeks later, should I get an x-ray?

Hello Customer

I am happy to help you today.

Did you have an initial xray of your sternum to know it is fractured?

If it is fractured it usually heals on its own but if severe enough can require surgery to stabilize it.

You will have to take it easy with moderate activity during the healing process.

You might even need Physical therepy to strengthen your chest muscle again.

It can take a few months to completely heal.

You might even need to get a CT scan.

Best wishes,

No, I never had an x-ray. I just assumed it was more than bruised since it still hurts. It doesn't sound like anything can be done if it's just a small fracture. I'll just have to be patient while it heals.

Thank you!
