Small lumps on back of tongue could be taste buds or enlarged lymphatic follicles. This could be due to upper respiratory infection. Infection can also cause enlargement of tonsil on one side & cause difficulty swallowing.
Please consult an ear nose throat specialist for evaluation, accurate diagnosis & treatment. Evaluation may include throat swabs, rapid strep test & blood work. Treatment may involve use of warm salt water gargles, humidifier or steam inhalation, prescription antibiotics if bacterial infection & tylenol for pain/fever.
