A hole has appeared in the back of my mouth, near the opening for my throat. Food or something was lodged in it this morning, and when I tried to get it out, it pushed straight through like the fleshy part of my mouth had been pierced or something. There is no pain, and I know its not some sort of ulcer (I''m very familiar with ulcers). Could it be some sort of swollen gland or is my mouth being eroded by something?

Is the hole in the top ( roof) of your mouth or in the back on the side?

Its in the back, on the side. It looks like a flap of skin protruding from the back of my mouth with a piercing through it.

Here is a picture of a tonsil in the back of a throat.

Many times people get "tonsil stones" in there which is basically food, sinus drainage debris and smells pretty bad.

Even if you have had your tonsils removed the hole will still be there.

Try gargling with salt water to help get rid of them if you get more.

It is pourous so things will go through it.

Best Wishes,
