Hello,
myelodysplastic syndrome is a group of disorders & not a single condition .It has several types.
It varies in intensity & progression .
The course of progression also varies .
It may remain indolent for several years or may progress to Leukemia which you can call
as cancer .
So the actual diagnosis depends on the laboratory investigation findings .
Hematologist might have found the disease at such an stage where he cannot call it a cancer.
Thanks
