Stool color can be a matter of what you eat. Usually pale, pasty, clay colored stools are a result of lack of bile. This can be because the stool is going through the digestive tract so fast that bile salts (which gives the normal brown color) don't have a chance to break down and change from green to brown, or it could be because there is a blockage in the bile duct. It can also be caused by Kaopectate that has been taken for diarrhea. In any event, it is something that needs to be evaluated by your primary provider.
