the gurgling and burping has been going on for 8 weeks. went to the doctor and he put me on nexium 40 mgs 5 weeks ago . i also had reflux symptoms which most have passed since being on the nexium. other than the stomach noise and burping.bowell movements are for the most part ok. i,ve had a couple of loose clean out ones but only a couple of times. 51 and male

There are certain Lifestyle and dietary changes which you should follow -

1. Avoid chocolate, peppermint, fatty foods, coffee, and alcoholic beverages

2 Eating meals at least 2 to 3 hours before bedtime may lessen reflux by allowing the acid in the stomach to decrease and the stomach to empty partially. I

3 If you are overweight,loose some weight.

4,Start practising Yoga and meditation.They will help you a lot.

Medications include -H2 blockers are available like ranitidine,famotidine

Start taking antacids-

  • Pepto-Bismol 2tsf thrice a day after meals.

No one knows the exact cause of these symptoms. The following are several contributing factors that weaken or relax the lower esophageal sphincter, making reflux worse-

1. Lifestyle - Use of alcohol or cigarettes, obesity, poor posture

2. Diet - Fatty and fried foods, chocolate, garlic and onions, drinks with caffeine, acid foods such as citrus fruits

3.Eating habits - Eating large meals, eating soon before bedtime

your telling me the gurgling stomach,burping and burning stomach is all from acid reflux. if so how long before i get relief on the nexium
