i have pain in area where you hold your hand to say pledge but iit goes away when i take a drink of water what could be causing this

This is very likely to be an Acid Peptic disorder.

What this means is that you are having excessive prodiction of acids in your stomach.

You should use these following OTC medications:

Cap. Prilosec 20 mg - one capsule once daily before breakfast for 15 days.
Mucaine gel - 2 tsf. three times daily for 15 days.
