My periods always last 5 days. This month I was late

Customer Question

My periods always last 5 days. This month I was late starting by two weeks and my period has lasted 12 days. Should I be concerned?

Any bleeding longer than 10 days should be checked out by your doctor, as too much bleeding can cause you to become anemic. Without an in person evaluation would be hard to pin point exactly what is going on. However some most common causes can include: Stress, weight gain/loss, medication, illness, hormonal imbalance, thyroid, infection.. just to name a few. So do give your doctor a call.
