It is recommended in general, ginger intake should not exceed 2 to 4 grams per day (this includes the ginger obtained through diet such as from ginger ale, ginger snaps, tea and ginger bread).

I am not sure what you are trying to treat; however, here is some general info:

The strength of this tea is a matter of individual taste. Sometimes when you have a cold or the flu, you can put a pot on in the morning and let it simmer throughout the day and pour a cup. Just add more water to the pot (the ginger root still has a lot of flavor in it).

1/2 cup coarsely chopped fresh ginger root (don't bother peeling it but give it a quick rinse before chopping.
3 cups water
Honey to taste

In a small saucepan, combine the ginger root and water, bring to a boil and simmer for ten minutes. Taste and if it tastes too weak, continue simmering; if it tastes too strong add more water. Strain and sweeten with honey to taste.
