Does it appear to connect to your USB and computer now?
Also please try to perform your update on another computer to rule out a few things.
Once that is done, I will be able to tell you with certainty what is wrong.
I have a strong suspicion now and it means the unit has an internal component failure due to its age. Also it may no longer be compatible with Garmin's web updater software as things have changed so rapidly in the tech feild.
Personally given the devices age, and the high cost of repair on them, and the fact that anew model will be so much more advanced and have many more useful features, I would simply replace this one at this point in tile. You will be happy you did;-)
The new ones are really much different and way more powerful with all kinds of interesting things it will tell you as you are driving. Ticket prevention even lol;-)
