My Garmin 800 won't power on.
JA: What is the exact model of your Garmin? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: Garmin 800 for cycling.
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: It hasn't been used for a few weeks. I tried to charge it. When I try to press the on button for awhile, the garmin come on and then nothing again. It turns back off. I had it charging for a couple of hours and still nothing.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Recharging. Taking out sd card. Resetting.
JA: Is there anything else the GPS Technician should be aware of?
Customer: Not sure.

You can try the following:

1. Force to Mass Storage -
Turn unit off. Hold the lap/reset button while plugging the unit into the USB. Continue holding the lap/reset for 30 seconds and the unit should go to mass storage.

2. Non-prompted Non-Vol Clear – Clears NV and deletes all FIT files including Activities, Courses, Workouts.
1. Hold Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
2. Press and release the power button
3. Continue to hold only Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
4. Release Lap/Reset and Start/Stop when the Garmin Logo is cleared
5. The unit will restart and clear nonvol.


If the power button still won't work then the power button is likely defective and the device will need to be returned to Garmin for repair.
