Hi Greg - I am Clyde Snavely.
JA: What's the make/model of your GPS unit? How old is it?
Customer: Sorry for the wait. 255W registered 04/10/11. I received an upgrade 10/26/16 No 91009627.
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Running the upgrade I received the following: The application is unable to build the map. Please clear the contents of the temporary folder and retry to update.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Garmin Express said, "the connection to the update service is lost. Please wait while Express reconnects.
JA: Anything else you want the gps expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I think I need to begin all over again. The first download was 7 hours.

Sorry to hear of any issue you are having with your device.

Both of those issues sound like "computer" issues - or "network" issues (connecting to the Garmin servers).

May I ask

1) what computer is being used?

2) Have you updated to the latest Garmin Express program?

3) What type of internet connection do you have?
