Customer Question

I have a Garmin GPS with which I am very satisfied except that the charge port doesn't hopd the cable any more. It is loose. I stopped on the trip on the way home to buy a new cable but that was not the problem. How and where can I have it remaired?
JA: What is the exact model of your Garmin? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: The numbers on the side are: 2j4622769. Does that help? Judy
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Hi Pearl, I'm not sure what you mean. Judy
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I took my GPS to our local Radio Shack and they said that the port was loose
JA: Anything else you want the GPS expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I would like to know how to have it repaired. I does work but because the port is not tight it keeps going black and I have to reset it. Judy

Hello & Welcome to Just Answer,

Sorry to hear of any issue you are having with your device.

To help you with this issue, may I ask:

1) The FULL Model Number of the device you are working with? If the numbers you sent are the Serial Number, that appears to be a Nuvi 50LM - does that sound correct?

2) The AGE of the device?

3) WHEN this issue first began (or was noticed)?

Hi again,

I see it has been a few days and I haven't seen a response on this page, so I just wanted to follow up to see if you have any more questions concerning this issue OR if the issue was resolved?

If the connector is "loose", there MAY be some "physical damage" inside the device - where the connector fastens to the main control board.

If that is the case, you MAY be able to have the device repaired under warranty, and contacting the support folks would be the first step in that process. I have their contact details below.
