Nuvi 660 has no Tools icon. There are 12 icons. They are address, Go home, Food lodging,Recently found,Favourites,Extras,Intersection cities,Back, near Up arrow and down arrow

From the main screen, the tools icon is the wrench.

Click on that, then Maps, then Map Info.

When I press the Map button the next screen is Map Detail-Normal

Vehicle-Change
At the bottom three buttons. First one is Back, next is Map Info but this button does not respond and is blacked out. Next to that is Restore

It sounds like you have lost your map data. What happens if you click on Restore?

Ok, then you have definitely lost your map data.
Is this a Nuvi 660 or a Zumo 660 (for motorcycles)?

This is Nuvi 660 and I used it until last week. Yesterday I went Detroit,USA and that is when I could not get any maps. It said no map data available.

Ok. Then it does indeed sound like your Nuvi has a problem. It is a 2006 model. When was the last time you updated either the firmware or the maps?

I updated the maps at the end of June 2016. I paid for a life time map update about 5 years back.

Ok, why don't you try another map update and see what happens.

I have a feeling it is nothing major. A single file has become corrupted which prevents the Nuvi from loading maps files.

Do an update and that file should be replaced.

Let me know what happens.

When you boot up the Nuvi, do you see any message about being unable to unlock maps?

Nuvi is now connected for update and it does not say"unable to unlock maps"

No. Unplug the Nuvi - and, just like you would do normally, boot up the Nuvi and look for messages on the screen.

I unplugged the Nivi and rebooted and the screen is the original normal screen that is

What program are you using to update maps? Webupdater? Garmin MapUpdate or something else?

Is my device reached its life span since it is 10 years old. I paid big money because at that time this was the Top Model from Garmin.

I wish you had told me that you were reloading maps. You were on the right track there.

Go ahead and reload the maps and let me know if that is successful.

If the unit still doesn't work, it may have developed a fault.
