I purchased a Garmin GPS 72H and I want to create a setting

Customer Question

i purchased a Garmin GPS 72H and I want to create a setting for creating a track I can save from the dock to my duck blind. I can't figure out the following:
How to set the screen to create the track
How to erase the trial tracks I tried to create which are a mess
How to type in the name of the track
How to keep the cursor pointing in the direction the boat travels
How to save my track for future use.

Hello & Welcome to Just Answer,

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier and to hear of any issue you may be having with your device.

To help you with this issue, may I ask:
1) Do you have the FULL manual for this device?
2) The AGE of the device?
3) HOW LONG have you had this device, and have you used any similar Garmin devices before?

Thanks

I looked up the manual on the internet. It is not particularly helpfull.
The device is new.
I have a Garmin on my boat.I just would like specific directions for setting up, naming and creating a track from the dock to my duck blind which is across a small lake.Clif

Hi again,

OK - did you see pages 9, 10, and 11 - having to do with "Tracks" and how they are created & used, including the saving of tracks and using the "TracBack" feature of this device?

NOTE: I don't have one of these particular units in the shop right now, so I can not give you EXACT steps for setting up the device - other than how to CLEAR and set up (turn on) the track log to gather data points.

Also, have you EVER used the "BaseCamp" program, which is the computer program that allows you to edit or create "Routes" to be used on the device? I only ask because that is what I believe is the program you may want to use for what you want to do.

Thanks

Hi again,

I just saw a "Call Request" and can call you in a few minutes.

Can you CONFIRM that you want me to call, as this is an "additional service".

Thanks

Hi again,

I tried to accept your call request but it says there may be a payment or security issue.

You may want to check that and I can try again in a few minutes.

Thanks

I agreed to the additional charge.

OK - let me try again.

OK - the system is still not letting me accept your call request.

Let me send an offer from my side and see if that works.

Thanks

Sorry Greg this is not working.

Hi again,

There could be something going wrong with any payment method being used, as the payment companies are VERY CAREFUL at this time of the year - especially if you don't do much "online" shopping or transactions.

If you would like to continue in this format, we can TRY to get this resolved that way.

Let me know what you think,
