Purchased Garmin Approach S1 GPS Golf Watch 9/4/12 Just what

Customer Question

Purchased Garmin Approach S1 GPS Golf Watch 9/4/12 Just what I need for my game. Problems: battery charge barely lasts 18 holes; when comparing to buddie's same watch, we differ 2-5 yds as do I to yardage markers on course. Repair? Buy new(!)?

Hello & Welcome to Just Answer,

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier and to hear of the issue you are having with your S1.

From what you have described, it sounds very much like the battery in the device is "getting old" - causing the battery life issue, and even perhaps a little bit of the yardage difference (although 2-5 yards is not to bad when it comes to these devices).

As for "repair or buy new" - that really depends on:

1) you & if you really like this particular device, AND your budget

2) IF you are looking to upgrade

3) if you would like to have it "repaired" by Garmin - at a flat rate (~$80 with a 90 day warranty)

4) If you would like to have the battery replaced - by a 3rd party service (~$50, but no warranty/guarantee)

If you want to have the device repaired by Garmin, I have a link below where you can get a quote for that service and the details about how to start the process. Just select your device from the pull-down selector to start the process.

If you want to have the battery replaced by a 3rd party service, I have a link to a company (on Amazon) that offers that service.

Approach S1/S2/S3 Battery Replacement Service (Amazon listing ~$50 as of 09.15.15).

If you are looking for another S1 but NEW, I also have a link to a search of Amazon - for the Approach S1

If you are considering an upgrade, I did a search for the Approach S3 and have the results below.

I hope this helps with information for you to be able to make a decision as to which way to go. To repair or replace is really a personal decision.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

If this has answered your question(s), please take a moment to rate MY service level (Excellent is my goal) so that I get credit for helping you with this question.
You should see some "smiley faces" or "stars" to do that, but please let me know if you do NOT see them or can not use them.
