We tried to load updates Garmin GPSmap 78s marine GPS.

Customer Question

We tried to load updates for the Garmin GPSmap 78s marine GPS. We tried to load them through Garmin Express. Garmin Express was setup on our computer for loading downloads for our Garmin nuvi 2595lmt. So we thought it would be OK to use to load the GPSmap 78s. When the GPSmap 78s is switched on it comes up with the following message. 'Saving all waypoints, routes and trip log information in GPX format. 100% complete.' The GPS then shuts down to a blank screen.

We have taking the battery out of the Garmin GPSmap78s replaced the battery and it still won't stay turned on. When turned on after a short while it ( 5 sec ) it goes to (saving all waypoints routes and trip log information in GPS format 100% complete ) Then turns off .
Tried holding down the up and down button and plug in the GPS into the computer hold button down for 10 seconds as stated in trouble shooting in the manual The screen stay's alight with GARMIN and below that a symbol that looks similar to a devils fork and the screen stays alight continually while plugged into the computer.

Hi again,If removing the battery for a few minutes does not help, then the device will need to be returned to Garmin to be reflashed with its software.
