97 gmc, 5.7 L...

97 gmc, 5.7 L Vortec. I did a serious upgrade to the front of engine, water pump, alternator, timing set, plugs, distributor cap, belts and hoses. the teardown and rebuild took several months and I now have 3 sensor wires on the passenger side that I cannot find the proper connection for, I need a good picture of the engine bay that will show all the sensors there.

Mechanic's Assistant: Has the vehicle ever overheated? And when was it last serviced?

No, do not treat me like a beginner

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model of your '97 GMC?

97 gmc sierra 1500, 4x4, 5.7L, vortec engine

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sierra 1500 yourself? What have you tried so far?

Are you trying to insult me

U dad man. A picture of the connections in engine bay area would be worth a fee.

Man. No hurry. This project was a mess from the start. I started with a dead battery and after the diagnosis I went after all issues with the truck so I can assure you that a delay is not a problem. This trucks future is for my grandkids, that lost their dad 4 years ago of sudden cardiac arrest. My daughter is left with her 8 kids ranging from 24 to 4 years of age so paw paw is doing his best to get the truck fixed to provide a safe means of transportation for school and parttime work.

trying to figure out how to get them from my phone to here. standby

Ask Your Own GMC Question

sorry man, can't figure out how to get my pics to the site. so you can either get the pics and wire colors or I can opt out and let someone else try

Ask Your Own GMC Question

we are not permitted to give out our personal emails. if you had the wire colors that would help tremendously

Ask Your Own GMC Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Those pictures can be downloaded to your computer and should be able to upload to the website. I do this all the time. Plus u can send from phone as attachment to a message. On another issue. I was charged 2 times from the website. 2, 5 bucks & 1, 23 bucks.

I have nothing to do with any charges brother. I only answer questions. I dont work for the company, Im an Independent. Im just going to open this up to the others. I need the wiring colors.

Map sensor, that is on the top of the intake behind the throttle body.

Ask Your Own GMC Question

Tell me what you need to see

No that is MAF, MAss Air Flow sensor, The MAP is Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, this engine uses both.

Ask Your Own GMC Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Where's that
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
U still there

I am still here. You somehow clicked the link to choose a different expert and I was locked out.

That sensor is located on top of the intake manifold behind the throttle body. IT is a small flat sensor.

Ask Your Own GMC Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Ok thanks. Will look at this tomorrow.

Sounds good.

Ask Your Own GMC Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Found map. Started okay. Run ok. Shut down and read codes 102 , 107. Cleared codes, started then backfired and stalled. What is this wire for. 2 wire, black and Orange wires. Sending you picture.

IS there a vacuum leak?
to get both codes suggests possible wiring issue or a bad throttle body sensor, the position sensor on the side.

Ask Your Own GMC Question

I think that is an extra connector used on some vehicles for a relay to operate duel battery or a camper battery setup.

Ask Your Own GMC Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
What up with the backfire.

Incorrect reading could be over-fuelling and that is causing the back fire.
