I'd like some assistance with my 2003 2500 HD Duramax driveline

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 2500 yourself? What have you tried so far?

Its a 4x4

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

When engaged in 4wd it has a bang/clunk coming from the front end on the drivers side. Only when engaged in 4wd. I replaced the driver side front axle with new, did not change. The teeth on the hub on the drivers side seemed intact when I inspected at time of hub removal.

If I drive in 4wd for more than a couple hundred metres, I get a "Service 4wd System" warning on the dash, with a red malfunction light at the*****selector switch, and this will not allow me to switch back into 4wd.

There will be a code set in the transfer case control module when the "Service 4wd System" warning comes on....has it been scanned for codes?

No it hasn't. Can I use a standard OBD2 scanner for this?
