There are no codes, and rearly it runs great...it also has new cats

Is this power, loss with the engine cold or hot, at all rpm ranges?

During this power, loss does it just bog down or misfire?

Power loss is hot and cold...worse hot....no codes but engine clatter ...like timing clatter.

Does this occur at all rpm ranges and loads?

Will it occur in park idling or in park revving the engine?

When driving it has no power then customer said all of a sudden it ran great plenty of power for a couple of days and now its back to power loss condition. No codes.

All rpm ranges when driving....no power and very poor fuel economy.

Will your scan tool allow you to monitor fuel trims and timing?

Have you monitored the fuel pressure and oil pressure?

Im going to check that in the morning...sounds like a timing issue...though I would bounce it off a fresh mind...You know.

I too agree it appears to be timing related but I just need some more information to say yes that is it as an answer.

Question....does crank or cam sensor control timing or both and what is cam solinoid used for.

Normally the CMP is for ignition timing, CMP is for the injector timing. The PCM uses both though to overall get everything right. The VCT solenoid is used to control the cam gear to advance or retard the cam timing to makes the valves open and close at different times based on engine load and temp.
