Making a slight ticking sound from the engine. notice it

making a slight ticking sound from the engine. notice it mostly at the rear of the front tires. sound does not change with engine RPM. Have owned 4 vehicle's with the 5.3 from 2001 to 2015
JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: Just bought the vehicle and the dealer says that it is normal.
JA: What is the model of your '01 GMC?
Customer: The model is a 1500 SLT z71
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No it is still under manufacture warranty.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

If it doesn't change with the rpm, that it appears it is not coming from the engine.

What did the dealer say it was specifically?

If he cannot or will not tell you, I would suspect him of fabricating a response.
