Thanks. 2007 Yukon Denali with 72,000 miles. Rough idle

Customer Question

Thanks. 2007 Yukon Denali with 72,000 miles. Rough idle problem has persisted for more than 10,000 miles. Engine light is on solidly most of the time. Intermittently the light has disappeared or flashed. Diagnostic codes don't seem to make sense; everything from timing variable valve, camshaft issue to emissions problem. I have resisted dealership plan to perform expensive engine repair for what seems to be a minor, but aggravating problem. The engine otherwise runs great with plenty of highway power and a nice rumble. This seems to be typical of a problem widely discussed on line. Any new ideas? Thank you again for your interest in sorting this out.
JA: Is the rough idle intermittent or consistent?
Customer: Consistent.
JA: What is the model of your '07 GM?
Customer: Yukon Denali, 6.2
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No. A mechanic is currently looking into it, but is having trouble diagnosing the problem.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Not sure what you mean. He knows the sympton, but not the cause.
